Saturday 10 March teaching – Samatha Meditation

On Sat 10 March, Ven Kunsang Choephel will give a free teaching in English on the topic of Samatha Medication. The Sanskrit word Samatha, (calm abiding), refers to a state of mind which is characterised by the stabilisation of attention on an internal object of observation, conjoined with the calming of external distractions to the mind. Samatha, which can also be translated as ‘tranquil abiding’ or ‘tranquility’, is an essential basis for training one’s mind in the generation of Vipashyana (penetrative insight), a true, analytical insight into the more profound aspects of the chosen object, such as its emptiness or its ultimate nature. All are welcome. Arrive at 9am for tea
