We are pleased to announce that Tibetan Monastery Services will videocast the next teaching by the Ven Kunsang Choephel titled ‘Preliminary Practices for the Buddhist Path’ on May 11th, 2019 at the International Buddhist Academy, in Kathmandu. The Venerable Kunsang Choephel is becoming widely appreciated for the clarity and approachability of his introductory teachings on key topics.
Registration for the webcast of the teaching on May 11th is now open at www.gompaservices.com. Registration and viewing will be available until June 3rd, 2019. Ven Kunsang Choephel will introduce ‘The Four Common Preliminaries’ for entering the Buddhist path. These are: (1)The cultivation of an appreciation for the potentials and the opportunities of human existence; (2)reflection on death and impermanence; (3) reflection on karma (the law of cause and effect); and (4) reflection on the unsatisfactory nature of life in the cycle of existence. These four considerations are regarded as key subjects of contemplation in a practitioner’s quest to overcome attachment to the attractions of worldly life. Successfully undertaken they lay a firm foundation for spiritual growth. The teaching will be recorded live and be available to view by the end of the day (Nepal time). The webcast will then remain available for you to view at any time of your choosing until June 3rd. The Gompa Services registration fee for the webcast is £4.00, or free for Gompa member-supporters. At the time you register you will also have the option to make a voluntary donation in support of the International Buddhist Academy.
