IBA scholar, Ven Ngawang Choephel, began a series of teachings at IBA in Nepali today, with over 30 people attending and enjoying kapse and tea afterwards. This series will continue through February, presenting introductory topics on Dharma.
Christian Bernert of Chodung Karma translation group, together with IBA monk scholars Thupten Sangpo (pictured with Christian) and Ngawang Tenzin, have been working on reviewing Christian’s draft translation of Rongtön’s “Meditation Manuals and Pith Instructions” collection, gom-‘khrid man-ngag gi kor. This text deals with both Shamatha and Vipassana meditation.
Today IBA celebrated the anniversary of the parinirvana of our most esteemed founder, Khenchen Appey Rinpoche. Khenpo Jorden led prayers in the shrine room, which, along with Rinpoche’s memorial stupa, was decorated with flowers bought with donations made by our sangha and staff, as well as by kind supporters in Malaysia.

Dharma teachings with Ven Kunsang Choephel are starting again on Saturday 21st January and will run till 25th February. Topics are The four Noble Truths, Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezi) mantra, Shamatha meditation, Transforming anger into loving kindness, Karma and Dzogchen. 9.30 to 11am.
To celebrate the anniversary of founding father Sakya Pandita’s parinirvana day on Wednesday 11th January there will be Tara, Mahakala and Sakya Pandita Memorial Offering Pujas held throughout the day from morning till late evening
